All vegan ramen (Japanese noodle soup) restaurant. Offers a set menu which you can adjust to your own preferences. The motto is ‘Awaken the sense of your taste’!
Damn tasty
Chef Atsushi Ishida started Men Impossible, after having worked at noodle restaurants in Dortmund and Amsterdam. His mission is to show people that plant-based food can be just as tasty as animal-based dishes, and are better for the planet! Traditionally ramen places use a non-vegan broth as a base for the dish. Atsushi is using ingredients like miso, cashew nuts and nutritional yeast to create a broth which is just as tasty.
Men is the Japanese word for ‘ramen’. The name of the restaurant refers to the seemingly impossible quest of achieving a rich taste while only using organic, European and plant-based ingredients, and no MSG. He shows it’s possible!
Hand-cut noodles
The current menu consists of a cold and a hot starter, followed by tsukemen style ramen with your preferred kind of soup – you can choose from three options. The noodles are handmade from spelt flour. A glutenfree option is possible. Add a ‘coloured liquid’ of your choice (like chili oil) halfway on your eating, and notice the difference in taste!
Seating at the big shared table, with a view of the open kitchen.
Reservation only
Men Impossible is located at the Jordaan, just around the corner of Elandsgracht. No cash, card payment only. In order to minimise food waste, Atsushi is only working with reservations. You can reserve here or call. Possibly he will open for lunch in the future as well.
