Huge Asian foodstore at Kinkerstraat. Carries products from allover Asia, as well as African and Latin American items. Not a vegan store but plenty of vegan stuff.
Best in the west
When you think of Asian stores in Amsterdam, you’re likely to think first of the obvious ones in the Nieuwmarkt area. There’s one in the west of town however that is for sure as good which I think everyone should know: Hong Kong Superstore! They started out in 2012 and are a real family business. The family owns other stores in other cities as well.
There are plenty of interesting vegan products to discover, the store is stacked with products from the floor to the ceiling. Everything you need and more!
Floor to ceiling
When you enter the store there are first fridges with fresh vegetables, tofu, herbs and more. Next there is a large aisle with freezers. Here you can find items like icecream (vegan mochi icecream!), dumplings, Korean vegetable pancake, parathas and much more. In that section there are also heaps of snacks, sweets and teas.
Around the corner starts a section with Latin products. Mexican dried chili peppers (ancho, guajillo, chipotle etc.), hot sauces and salsas. Then there’s a gigantic row with soy sauces and other condiments. Turn left for spice mixes, Indonesian bumbus and Thai curry paste. In the other rows you’ll find canned beans, (instant) noodles, dried spices, miso and other Japanese products. There’s also a non-food section with bowls and other tableware, rice cookers etc.
Hong Kong Superstore is located at the far end of Kinkerstraat, kind of across from the HEMA. Tramstop (the 7 and the 17) nearby.
