Tiny vegan fastfood restaurant with the menu based around their vegan kebab.
Festival foodtruck
Karma Kebab started in 2018 as a foodtruck at famous festival Lowlands. Their vegan kebab made out of celeriac and wheat proved to be a huge success, so many more festivals followed after that! Founders Pascal Labrie and Ivo van der Pauw then opened their first real restaurant in 2022 in Utrecht. Here they continue and celebrate the festival experience – with bumper cars and loud music.
In september 2024 they opened another location in Amsterdam close to Leidseplein, at the same address where vegan fastfood restaurant The Sunny Burger Co. used to be before. They consider Utrecht as their flagship spot, the Amsterdam restaurant as a small neighbourhood location. Their goal is to reinvent kebab for the 21st century – both sustainable and super delicious. Not just fully plant-based but with locally grown ingredients as well.
Kebab and deepfried deliciousness
Everything on the menu is vegan. The main dishes all revolve around their vegan kebab, either stuffed inside a pita or on top of loaded fries. Both the pitas and loaded fries come in the same four flavours (like The Classic Lowlander with garlic sauce and cabbage, or the Flaming Ragu with ‘smokey bbq chipotle’). Side dishes include falafel, chili fries, rendang croquettes etc. For the sweet tooth they have three different types of cake: lemon poppyseed, double chocolate and banana.
Leidseplein
Karma Kebab is located at Leidsekruisstraat, next to well-known bar Bourbon Street. Just a few minutes away from Leidseplein with many tram stops. Inside there’s space for about 14 people to sit. As they are open until late they are perfect to combine with going out! They are also on delivery platforms.
Karma Kebab has very ambitious plans. They want to launch their concept worldwide and hope to open up 50 locations so stay tuned!
