Laid back cultural restaurant/café bordering the IJ river on the north side of Amsterdam, offering a manificent view of the city. Located at the NDSM wharf, an area with lots of art and cultural events at the site of a former shipyard.

Vegan options

At Noorderlicht they have an omnivore kitchen but there are always vegan dishes on the menu. However the amount of vegan options at Noorderlicht varies, best to have a look at the website for the current menu. Some of the Noorderlicht Specials are also vegan, some vegetarian dishes can be made vegan.  The menu changes every season.

Live music

In the weekends often bands or dj’s are playing at Noorderlicht. Have a look at the program here. The outside area of Noorderlicht features a few small stages – during summer sometimes small festivals are taking place.

Nearby at NDSM

Other places of interest nearby at NDSM wharf include  club Sexyland (very diverse program), the graffiti halls of fame at the ship ramp and the warehouses at Tt. Neveritaweg, the monthly flea market at IJ Hallen and vegan-friendly restaurants Pllek and IJ Kantine.
The future of NDSM wharf as it is at the moment is uncertain, as there are plans to build houses in the area in the future.

Ferry ride

To get to Noorderlicht from the centre, take the ferry to ‘NDSM werf’ at the back of Central Station. The crossing takes about fifteen minutes and is free of charge. Make sure to check out what time the last ferry back departs!

Once arrived at the north head right, you’ll find Noorderlicht close to the big crane.
