Healthy hotspot
Initially Mirre van Klaveren studied law, but while finishing her studies she kept thinking about all the great healthy foodspots she visited while on holiday in Bali. Moreover she used to work in hospitality for years and missed having people around her, as opposed to sitting in an office all day. So eventually after doing her final internship she decided to change course and pursue her dream of opening up her own healthy vegan cafe!
Rainbowls opened summer 2018. The whole menu is vegan. “We strongly believe in the power of a plant-based diet,” says Mirre. Both for reasons of health as well as sustainability. They also stay away from refined sugars and chemical additives – all the colours of the food are completely natural. The name Rainbowls refers to the motto they cherish: ‘Eat the Rainbow’. Eat fruits and vegetables in all colours to ensure a healthy varied diet!
Ginger Colada smoothie
The food menu offers various colourful fruit-based bowls, like with dragonfruit or açai. Also multiple chia pudding options, topped with fruit or vegan yogurt, coconut, cacao or even matcha.
They also have some simple pastry, like lemon poppyseed cake, carrotcake or peach cake.
For drinks they offer several smoothies, all based on various fruits, superfoods and plantbased milks (e.g. Ginger Colada Smoothie with passionfruit, pineapple, ginger, mint, banana, coconutmilk).
Also various coffee beverages, matcha, chai latte, ginger tea. Cold drinks include homemade juices, ginger shots and kombuchas.
Calm street
Several places to sit inside, some seating outside on benches. Rainbowls is located on the calm Frans Halsstraat, near Marie Heinekenplein. Tram 24 stops nearby as well as the metro (station ‘De Pijp’). They are also on delivery platforms.
