Bakery shop / cafe with many vegan options, where everything is glutenfree. Originally from Utrecht, now also located in Amsterdam.

Approved

It started with baking just for their children, as some cannot tolerate lactose or gluten. When a local bakery approved the cakes and was interested in selling them, Daphne and Erik took it one step further and bakery Rose & Vanilla was born. In 2015 they opened in Utrecht. Originally just for pastry, later they added savoury lunch options as well. Early 2023 they opened their second location in Amsterdam Oud-West.

Shaped perfectly

Most of the pastries are vegan. They come in four different sizes, all shaped perfectly: petit four, one person pastry (ranging from €4,50 to €5,25), 6 person and 12 person pie. Vegan flavours include chocolate-coconut, tiramisu, apple pie and raspberry-strawberry cheesecake! As the process of developing the perfect recipe takes a long time, the assortment doesn’t change much.

They also offer a savoury lunch menu, which changes every week. It’s vegetarian but always with vegan options. Various soups, salads and sandwiches. For example garden pea soup, vegan waldorf salad, sandwich with beetroot spread etc. They also offer a vegan high tea, where you get a selection of sweet and savoury options (€27,75 per person).

Besides certified glutenfree and lactosefree some options are also nutfree. All their food is organic.

Courtyard garden

Rose & Vanilla is located at Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat, close to Overtoom and Vondelpark. Tram stops nearby. They have a few tables inside, overlooking the street or the courtyard garden.

All their pies get produced in their production bakery in Maarssen. Their products are not just available in their own bakery shops, but also at over 30 cafes and shops in Amsterdam, and many more elsewhere in the Netherlands.
