Books and magazines on veganism and animal rights? They have it at the library! The main public library of Amsterdam is housed in a huge building close to the central train station. The above photo shows the magazine of the Dutch Vegan Society, as well as the magazine of the Vegetarian Society.

There’s a vegetarian cookbook section on the 5th floor. Here one can find classics from Yotam Ottolenghi, Madhur Jaffrey or Mark Bittman. It includes several vegan cookbooks as well, a.o. Lisette Kreischer and Antoinette Hertsenberg.

Also on the 5th floor is a section on zoology which includes books on animal rights by Tom Regan, Erno Eskens or Barbara Noske.

The 7th (top) floor houses a La Place buffet style casual restaurant with a few vegan options. The outside terrace is accessible for everyone and offers a stunning view on the city!

The main public library is located at Oosterdokskade 143, open every day from 10 am until 10 pm. Around 25 other locations can be found all over town.
