Vegan burger restaurant close to Leidseplein.
Change in concept
Located in a street with mostly tourist restaurants, tourists are also the target audience for Vegan Temple Bar. This used to be a pizzeria before, but the Egyptian owners changed concept and are happy they did! As they are Coptic Christians they are familiar with vegan food, when they are fasting (which is around 200 days a year) they are eating vegan themselves. They are offering all kinds of vegan junkfood classics, not an original concept but it works. Vegan Temple Bar opened June 2021.
Avocado burgers and Hennessy
The menu is pretty straightforward, nothing unexpected for a vegan junkfood menu. Six different burgers, like a smokey burger with bbq sauce, a falafel burger, avocado burger. Then there are some rolls, filled with for example shoarma, salad and fries. Fries, loaded fries (like a kapsalon), onion rings, nachos and a few salads. For dessert there’s Ben & Jerry’s icecream or a brownie with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.
The drink menu offers coffee, tea, fresh juices, tap beer and even strong alcohol like whiskey and cognac.
Leidseplein
Vegan Temple Bar is located at Lange Leidsedwarsstraat, around the corner of Leidseplein, you can spot them from passing through Leidsestraat as well. Easy to walk to from within the centre, there are also lots of trams stopping at Leidseplein. Some seating outside as well.
