Vegan restaurant serving streetfood from various Asian countries.

Vegan is the future

Veganees is the co-creation of two friends, Jan and Lennart. They were working in retail and horeca but wanted to start their own restaurant. It had to be something both unique and sustainable, hence they concluded to go for a vegan restaurant! From travelling and cooking themselves they developed a passion for the Asian cuisine, so this further shaped their concept. The name ‘Veganees’ is a reference to Chinese restaurants in the Netherlands. They opened August 2021.

Shared dining

The menu offers dishes from a broad range of Asian countries, from India to Thailand, Korea, Japan and more. Curries, bao buns, salads, noodle soup and lots of finger food. For example vegetable tempura, seitan satay, bao bun with pulled jackfruit, tom kha soup or curry Madras! A few desserts as well. The dishes are not too big, so you can order multiple and share them with your table companions.

The drinks menu offers organic wines, local beers and various cocktails (and sodas of course).

Oud-West

Veganees is located in Amsterdam Oud-West, close to Overtoom and Vondelpark. There’s a tram stop practically in front of their door (tram 3). Lots of seating, when you come in it goes all around the bar to the other side. They also have a terrace.

NB Not to be confused with the other Veganees, who are based in The Hague and specialise in vegan pastry.
